Calendars

calendar is a system of organizing days. This is done by giving names to periods of time, typically days, weeks, months and years. A date is the designation of a single, specific day within such a system. A calendar is also a physical record (often paper) of such a system

Why do we use a calendar?

Calendars are also used to help people manage their personal schedules, time, and activities, particularly when individuals have numerous work, school, and family commitments. People frequently use multiple systems and may keep both a business and family calendar to help prevent them from over committing their time.

In Sudan we use two calendars, they are:

1- The Gregorian calendar: it starts with the birth of Christ.

2- The Hijra calendar : starts with the migration of prophet Mohammed ( peace and blessing be upon him) from Mecca to El medina

What is the difference between Islamic calendar and Gregorian calendar?

Gregorian calendar has 365 days (or 366 days every four years for leap year), and is based on one solar year. ... The Islamic calendar has 12 months, each with 29 or 30 days. The Islamic calendar year is 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar year.

B.C: means before Christ

A.D:means after Christ ( anno domini).
