Day and night
The sun is brightest object we can see in the sky.
When the sun shines in the sky, its day and
when it doesn’t shine, its night.
Every day we see that the sun moves across the
sky starting in the morning in the east moving toward the south
at noon, and then toward the west at day end.
Why do we have day and night?
Because the earth rotates on its axis.
Rotate: means to turn. The earth rotating on its axis gives
us day and night.
The earth takes a whole day (24 h) to make a
complete turn.
When one half of earth faces the sun, the other half doesn't
face the sun. The half that faces the sun has light so it's daytime. The half
that doesn't face the sun doesn't have light so it's nighttime. We call this
movement ROTATION.
