social studies?
The primary purpose of social
studies is to help young people develop the ability to make informed and
reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse,
democratic society in an inter- dependent world. Social studies is
taught in kindergarten through grade 12 in schools across the nation.
The social sciences are academic disciplines concerned with the study
of the social life of human groups and individuals including
anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science,
psychology, social studies, and sociology.
