conditions of the Arabian Peninsula
The Arabs
called their land an island despite the fact that water surrounds it on three
sides, Contemporary authors have corrected this appellation, and it is now
known as the Arabian Peninsula
Geographical
location
- The Arabian Peninsula is located in the southwestern part of the Asian continent,
- It is
bordered on the north by the Land of sham Syria.
- On the south by the Arabian Sea.
- From the
west is the Red Sea, and from the east is the Arabian Gulf.
The Arabian Peninsula, most of its land is
extremely dry desert, and many hills, heights and sand dunes, And dry valleys
The western part of the Arabian Peninsula consists of high mountains and elevations, Slope steeply towards the coast of the Red Sea, On the eastern side, a slope gradually descended towards the Arabian Gulf, In these mountains with little rain some valleys are inhabited by nomads, These nomads live in tents
and consider it a home for them.
They depend on sheep for food such as meat and milk, and they consider camels as the ship of the desert
, Bedouins make use of sheepskins and wool to make their tents. This part is known as the Hejaz region.
There are
two areas, one of them in the north and it is called Najd, which has a rocky
land, in which the erosion factors formed thick soil, in which camels and
purebred Arabian horses were raised. As for the other area called Al-Ahqaf, it
is the Empty Quarter desert, which descends towards the east, where the plains
of Al-Ahsa overlook the Arabian Gulf. Al-Ahqaf is called the Empty Quarter
because it is empty of residents.
