Human civilization in prehistoric times
The ages
that preceded human knowledge of writing are known by the prehistoric period.
And that our information about man in that long period is derived from the
effects he left behind. Among those effects, we learned about various aspects
of his life. It is clear to us from the studies carried out by archaeologists,
stratigraphers and anthropologists that man, during the long prehistoric times,
passed through several stages showing his slow development in the progress for
the better. Thus, the prehistoric period can be classified into the following
eras:
First:
the Old Stone Age
Studies carried out by archaeologists revealed to us a great stone-based civilization that spread in the Mediterranean basin, and around the waterways of Asia and Africa. Man has benefited from the stone in all his daily necessities, so he made eating and drinking tools and self-defense tools from it. Historians divide this era into lower, middle and upper stone branches.
middle stone age
In this era,
the manufacture of machines made of wood and animal horns rose. It became used
for various purposes. Man also took clothes from animal skins. Some
inscriptions of some animals and exciting scenes were found in the caves, which
give life to man's knowledge of art in the Middle Stone Age. As for the
doctrinal aspect, man in this era did not have a clear idea of religion. But
they believed in the continuity of life, as they buried with their dead some
things, such as utensils and weapons, believing that a person does not die, but
rather moves to another similar life in which he performs the previous actions
that he used to perform in his first life.
Neolithic
age
In this era,
man has made progress in making stone tools, so we find them polished, durable
and varied, and this is a development that suits his needs.
There is
another step that had a great impact on human progress, which is his knowledge
of agriculture and his ability to build houses for housing and manufacture textiles,
as he learned to domesticate animals and raise livestock and benefit from them
in his food and clothing.
