Mining
Minerals are found in
semi-pure form, or combined with many impurities and oxides
It is easy to extract
some of them, such as iron and copper, from surface mines, and some are found
in deep mines
Mining often causes harm to the health of miners and damages the environment, such as air pollution, river water and groundwater due to the
materials used to isolate the substance from impuritiesMetal Benefit Techniques
To take advantage of the
minerals, they must be shaped so that they take the shape we want, and there
are two ways: machining and forming
Machining
Mechanisms are used to
remove parts of the metal until it takes the desired flat, circular,
cylindrical, or stripped shape. Screws or openings can also be made
Formation
FIRST
The metal is formed in
the states of hardness and cold, by pulling it to turn from a thick mass into
plates or wires, and the technique of converting to plates is called rolling
and converting to wires by drawing
Secondly
Shaping the metal in the
states of hardness and heat: the metal is heated to reddening and we shape it
by hammering it with a heavy hammer. This technique is called blacksmithing
